USING THE DICTIONARY

Now with so many accessing the
Internet, it is a wonder anyone uses books anymore, especially the
dictionary. My friend
Sandi Haertig was at work last week and someone was getting ready to dump their dictionary. Immediately
Sandi said hold onto that, "I'll take it!" She knew just what to use it for....
the latest trend now in card making and paper crafting - making flowers and using it for other die cut images. Over the weekend at Rhodes Grove, I decided to die cut with
Sandi and use those dictionary pages. I made the above card for my mom for Mother's Day.

We die cut the butterflies using our
beautiful butterflies die for the Big Shot. The paper from the dictionary is somewhat thin, so we backed it with white
ultra smooth card stock.
Sandi also had a great idea to find words we wanted to use and die cut over those words.

I chose the words
love and
lovely because they describe my mother perfectly. I also took a sponge dauber and sponged some
lavender lace ink on the butterflies to give them a vintage feel.

Here is a close up of the flower I made. I made it using the
larger new flower punch and breaking the fibers in my card stock with a
SU! bone folder, I was able to separate the card stock into 2 so that I had this soft paper texture. These flowers look like
prima flowers at a fraction of the cost.

The dots above are rub
ons from the
SU! Easter Egg kit. I certainly am getting a lot of mileage out of that kit. It has been so well-worth it. And to be able to
recycle the dictionary - oh what a great idea.
So beautifully done!!
