MDS MONDAY - SISTERS CRUISING FROM NYC

It was a little over a year ago that my sister took me on a cruise to the Bahamas for a milestone birthday.  We had a grand time and met some wonderful people on the ship.  One of the best parts of the cruise, other than spending time with Terri, was cruising from NYC. I love NYC because it's a great city with so much to see and do and because I'm literally a "Native New Yorker" as I was born right there in the city.  These photos showcased our grand departure on NCL from the New York Harbor.

The page was digitally mastered with SU! My Digital Studio and I tried a new idea, black and white photos over a color photo background. These were our "departure photos."  I scrapbooked these photos of Terri and I because I was reminiscing about the cruise as she and I get ready to take another adventure together over the summer which this time will be all on land.

All photos were taken with my iphone. I really love the background with Lady Liberty.
She welcomes all.

As a side note - I color matched the font of the words to Lady Liberty's colors.

BRAND NEW SU! HELLO THERE!

I love SU! and anything NEW!  I received my NEW SU! box of goodies this past week and have played a little bit with some of the NEW items from the SU! NEW IDEA BOOK.  The HELLO THERE stamp set is a hostess set and I paired it up with the stamp set GEOMETRICAL which is also relatively NEW (was in Occasions SU! catalog and is now in NEW idea book).  I used NEW HELLO HONEY in color and also the NEW EMBOSSING FOLDERS by SU! - LARGE DOTS and FUN FRAMES.

The ribbon is BRAND NEW also from SU!  It's NEW satin ribbon in HELLO HONEY to match the NEW IN COLOR line.  This ribbon is so super soft.  You will love it!  And in keeping up with my PROJECT LIFE style, I'm corner rounding some of my edges.

NEW DIGITAL PAGE WITH SUMMER POSSIBILITIES DOWNLOAD ON SALE WITH NEW SU! WEEKLY DEALS

Before we look at the weekly deals, here's a quick digital page I created using the SUMMER POSSIBILITIES KIT that I just downloaded today from SU!  It's on sale!   I love the patriotic and summer feel to this kit.  In this digital page I showcased some photos of JP and I at the Southwest Airlines Terminal before our flight to Florida last month.  We greeted 47 war veterans (mostly WWII vets) who were flown in to visit DC and the War memorial.  It was really cool to see these vets and give them a hurrah and the praise they deserve.

BRAND NEW SU! KINDA ECLECTIC AND HELLO THERE

I just opened a NEW BOX of SU! goodies that I ordered from the NEW IDEA BOOK.  This card uses the NEW SETS KINDA ECLECTIC and HELLO THERE.  I love the collage feel of KINDA ECLECTIC.  The colors I used are all NEW IN COLORS and the card stock coordinates (Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss).  These colors are great and really vibrant.  The KINDA ECLECTIC stamp set coordinates with the two SU! butterfly punches.
The butterflies on the card are accented with SU! rhinestones.  Click on the photo and you will see all in more detail.

MDS MONDAY MOVES TO TUESDAY - SPENDING TIME WITH MY BEST DOGGIE FRIEND LUIGI

NOTE: MDS MONDAY moves to Tuesday this week so I could recognize my parents 52nd wedding anniversary yesterday.

My absolute favorite buddy in the whole world is my doggie friend Luigi.  I just love this little guy.  He was a rescue puppy we got when he was just a few months old.  He's now 6 and we are just thrilled he's part of our family.  He's kind of grown up with our son JP.  Here's a photo I took when I was dropping Luigi off at a friend's so we could trek down to Florida for a few days.  Luigi was a really good sport and although he does not like car rides at all, he did pretty well this day.  I put him in his THUNDER SHIRT (really works) and his seat belt, and away we went.
I love this photo of us together.

This page was digitally mastered using SU! MY DIGITAL STUDIO.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MOM AND DAD - EVERYTHING ELEANOR AND GORGEOUS GRUNGE SU! CASE

Today my parents celebrate 52 years of marriage.  Congratulations Mom and Dad!  Hope you enjoy your day and have many more wonderful years together.

I created this ANNIVERSARY card for them by casing Connie Stewart who may have cased someone else.  This card uses the EVERYTHING ELEANOR stamp set swirl and then using the RICH new IN COLOR by SU! BLACKBERRY BLISS, I stamped the splotch from GORGEOUS GRUNGE a few times by stamping and then not reinking but stamping it 3 times to get the lighter colors.  I then stamped the greeting from an older SU! set and sprayed some gold glitz on the card.  The blossoms are punched with the same Blackberry bliss cardstock and then I added gold dazzling details to the centers.  You have to really see this card up close.  Click on the photo below.  It's not the same but you get a better idea. This card really looks so elegant in person.  Hoping mom and dad love their card.  Thanks Connie for sharing the idea.

NEW CARD WITH WORK OF ART

The Work of Art Stamp set is highly popular.  It was just released June 2nd, although demonstrators who attended the RED CARPET PREMIER for SU! received this set complimentary with admission.  I really like this set and have been using it a lot.  I've been impressed with some of the neat ideas and creative ideas that crafters are coming up with using this set.  Very imaginative.  Here's a card I made the other day stamping some of the images so that they look like watercolored blurred flowers.

These look kind of like tulips, don't you think?  I also used dazzling details in GOLD.  The dazzling details glitter has really revolutionized crafting for me since I love glitter.

BLOOM WITH HOPE AND SU! BLENDABILITIES

I'm thinking of using this card for a swap I'm in.  I love this stamp set BLOOM WITH HOPE by SU!  I stamped the large flower and stem as well as the sentiment on whisper white card stock with black memento ink.  Then I colored the image with the NEW BLENDABILITIES Alcohol markers by SU!  These color so smoothly and quickly.  Love these markers and I've used them several times before.  They will be available to the public some time later this summer.  Want them now?  Join SU! for only $50 this month and you can order these great markers.
The finished stamped and colored image was mounted to the NEW IN COLOR - TANGELO TWIST card stock.  I corner rounded the edges (thanks to the new corner rounding craze due to Project Life).  I also used two new IN COLOR coordinating satin ribbons (one in Tangelo Twist and one in Hello Honey).  I added a SU! button and golden twine from SU! and then gold dazzling details to the center of the flower.  The BLENDABILITIES add a richness and depth to coloring an image.  I'm really impressed with their abilities.

CARD FOR MY DEAR FRIEND MARY JO - ENDLESS WISHES AND BLOOM WITH HOPE

I've been meaning to get off a good wish to my friend Mary Joe B.  She's a true blessing to me in many times of need and we support each other.  We both love sending each other cards and I've wanted to get this one off to her for a few weeks now.  Finally getting to post it, which is not like me.  Mail goes out almost every day.  I still believe in snail mail.
The card used RICH RAZZLEBERRY and HELLO HONEY cardstock (blossoms from new MINI punches by SU!) and whisper white.  I stamped an image from BLOOM WITH HOPE (SU! NEw hostess set) and colored with NEW BLENDABILITIES.  Then I stamped Lovely and Day from the ENDLESS WISHES stamp set (it's a great set getting ready to come back on a 2nd run, it's so popular).  The flowers were punched and I added some colored glitter to the center.  The envelope has the MOSAIC MADNESS images stamped with some NEW IN COLORS by SU!

Here's the card a little closer.

I corner rounded the center image and then the right side of the card base.

MOSAIC MADNESS - WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

This weekend the Stampin Sistah's will be getting together.  It is our anniversary weekend.  We have new members and it's going to be a fun day to craft and meet up.  One of the sistah's introduced us to a craft project she thinks we would enjoy (stay tuned as I'll feature that in an upcoming post) but one of the sets needed to complete the project is MOSAIC MADNESS by SU!  I have that stamp set and when I originally purchased it, I couldn't get enough of it.  I just took it out to have for our gathering and decided to create a card using the set.  I still LOVE this set.  It even has a coordinating punch.  If you search my blog or do a google search, you can see a lot of great projects done with MOSAIC MADNESS.

I used Melon Mambo for the base cardstock.  I then embossed the whisper white card stock with the SU! embossing folder that coordinates with the stamp set.  I inked all stamps with melon mambo ink and stamped in the mosaics.  Two of the mosaic pieces were stamped separately on whisper white and punched out with the coordinating punch.  I also punched little melon mambo hearts (from the NEW mini punch pack by SU!) and added them.  The ribbon is a dotted swiss in pink and then for the TAG - I used a leftover tag from last month's MY PAPER PUMPKIN and stamped the "to you" on it from the ENDLESS BIRTHDAY WISHES (very popular stamp set on back order but should be coming available this week - don't miss out, if you want it).  Notice, too, that I punched the left side of the card with the corner rounder - being made popular again because of PROJECT LIFE.  I'll get this card off to a good friend this week.

FATHERS DAY SCRAPBOOK PAGE WITH MY PAPER PUMPKIN AND SU! WEEKLY DEALS

I love the recent SU! My Paper Pumpkin kit I received in May.  It was all about Father's Day and was more male oriented.  Most stamp companies are including male themed projects and stamps in their repertoire now and I couldn't be happier.  I now have stamps and designs that can be used for the men in my life.  Here's a scrapbook page I made with the kit.  The kit was originally designed as a card kit and I previously showed the cards I made, but the mini cards spoke to me in a different way - create a scrapbook page.
I printed photos with my ZINK HAPPY portable printer. First I desaturated the photos so they wouldn't be so bright on the page.  I almost did them in sepia, but wet for the desaturated look and I love how it turned out. With the ZINK HAPPY, I can print right from my phone and the photos are adhesive backed.  We spent Father's day weekend at the Baltimore Orioles Baseball game against the Toronto Bluejays.  It was an awesome day at the park.  We purchased special tickets to benefit SHANNON's FUND and received complimentary Lower Box (superfab) seats, early entrance to the ballpark to watch the Orioles batting practice from the party deck (cool view), meet Orioles players and the Orioles Bird mascot, as well as snacks and beer/wine/soda.  We also received a complimentary gift bag with a T shirt, baseball cap, Orioles magazine and more.  The money went to a really amazing cause.  My husband was thrilled to meet the Orioles players and overall it was an amazing day.  The Orioles won the game also.
Here's a close up of the 6 by 6 square I made with the two mini 3 by 3 cards which were printed on the front and back.
I used other components of the kit (some of which went on the larger cards, like the banners and the candy dots, twine and tags, etc.  I really love getting exclusive product in these MY PAPER PUMPKIN kits.  I punched stars to coordinate with the page with the NEW MINI PUNCH PACK from the SU! Idea Book that just was released.
I am displaying the page on my scrapbook page magnetic frame in our hall.

And before I forget...here are the weekly deals from SU!

WEDDING BELLS AND GODZILLA FROM THE SU! BLOG

I can't help but repost this from the SU! BLOG.  What great projects and a cute story.  If you haven't given My Digital Studio a try, it's time to check it out.

Wedding Bells . . . and Godzilla
My only daughter, Gloria—who works in Demonstrator Support—is getting married. Hurray!! And I have to say, it has been the most delightful experience watching all of this transpire. She and her husband, Robby, met at Southern Virginia University and suffice it to say—it’s curtains for both of them. They’re so in love. And they are pretty adorable.
The date is set, and as it turns out, I was assigned cardmaking duties. Their colors are red and brown (she loves red and he loves brown)—so I began experimenting with the possibilities. My daughter and I both love the Cheers to Love Stamp Set from the new annual catalog, so I began by CASEing one of the cards on pg. 71.

As it turned out, neither Glo nor Robby loved that card, so I tried again.  (Sniff! I think it’s so cute!)

The two cards on the right got the thumbs up.

Finally, we settled on this one. Can you tell that we love the Real Red and Very Vanilla patterns in the new Flashback Designer Series Paper? But my daughter and I agreed that it still needed a little something.

I added a layered butterfly using the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly Punches. (Though the embellishment looks like a Basic Pearl, it’s actually a Basic Rhinestone.) I also used Crumb Cake Cardstock and Gold Foil Sheets. I cut out the oval frames using the Big Shot and the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies.
Then we needed invitation inserts, so I created them using MDS—and yes, those ARE Godzilla figurines. (Gloria and Robby are both big fans.) Fortunately, their photographer understood Godzilla fandom. We have several dramatic shots of Mr. & Mrs. Godzilla posing on the shores of the Great Salt Lake.
My daughter and her fiancé are both writers and want a fairy tale theme for their reception, so I am making faux books for each table using empty boxes, Flashback Designer Series Paper, Kraft, Real Red, and Very Vanilla Cardstock, and the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies. The new, heart-shaped Sweetheart Punch would work perfectly with this!

(The back of the book.)
And here is a banner I made using the Celebration Basics Kit. The flowers were created using the Big Shot, the Floral Frames Collection, Real Red Cardstock, and White Filter Paper.

Donna G. from Demonstrator Training was kind enough to show me how to make tassels for the banner.

I used White Filter Paper. (Donna spritzed her White Filter Paper using Crushed Curry ink.) Adhere Sticky Strip to the top of the Filter Paper. Make cuts every quarter inch, as shown. Roll up the tassel using a wooden skewer. I stacked a few sheets on top of one another so I could make several tassels at the same time. Tip: pencil lines on the paper to help with cutting.

You’ll probably be seeing a few more wedding posts from me before the summer is over! You should see our living room after a weekend of invitation-making with Gloria’s soon-to-be family. It’s one big wedding/papercrafting mess! But to me, it is truly lovely. ;-)
