WORLD CARD MAKING DAY - MARIA'S SECOND CARD - NEAT FUN FOLD CARD

I just can't get away from the GENTLY FALLING stamp set.  I've used it a lot now, so I think it was definitely worth getting.  Here is a really neat fun fold type card using the set and the SPICE CAKE designer papers by SU!

I am pretty sure that this was everyone's favorite card of the night.  We stamped the leaves on cream card stock.  The leaves come as 2 step stamps - so this is a real bargain set.  You stamp the outline in a darker color - we used early espresso classic ink by SU! - and then the colored portion is another stamp that gets stamped with your favorite color.  We used colors that matched the spice cake dsp - more mustard, pool party, lucky limeade, and crumb cake.  The leaves were individually cut out and attached.  Linen thread wrapped in a mini bow provides the accent.

Here is the card done a few different ways, including using different card stock base of more mustard.
I really love the acorn and the helicopter leaf that comes with this set as well.  The Thanksgiving sentiment is from the stamp set TEENY TINY WISHES.

The insides of the cards are stamped with the stamp set HAND PENNED HOLIDAYS.  There is also a Christmas and a Halloween wish in this stamp set.

By the way, I learned this fun fold at my upline JANET WAKELAND's home for Diva Day.  She always shows us how to make the coolest things.

Above are two side views so that you can see exactly how the card is folded.

And lastly, one of the cards shown with a hand stamped envelope.  I watercolored parts of the leaves on the envelope using my SU! aquapainter and my SU! watercolor crayons.

HALLOWEEN FUN MAKING CARDS

We had a great fall card making class this past week.  We made some really fun cards. I'll share them with you over the next week.  I usually include a Halloween card in our Fall Card making class and our Holiday Fun class.
We used tangerine tango as the base card stock and embossed it with the houndstooth embossing folder for SU!  The designer paper is frightful sight which is new this year by SU!  The pumpkin is stamped in tangerine tango classic ink from the Got Treats set and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I used thin black taffeta ribbon for my bow.  This card is pretty easy to make so if you have a lot of cards to send at this spooky time of the year like I do, then this is an easy card making set up.

Here's the general info on the designer paper:

NEW SU! HOSTESS SET CARDS

I was at my upline Janet Wakeland's home yesterday and we made some very lovely cards that I want to share with you.  I'll be sharing several of them this week.  My favorite card was the baby card below that Janet designed.  My friend Lisa Chatterjee and I were together making cards and we had such a lovely time getting so inspired by all of the new products that SU! has to share with all of us!  After making the baby card I was inspired to make my own card using the same hostess set called A Slice of Life (this set comes in clear or wood mount and can be earned in the US with a hostess order as a level 1 set).  I've seen some fabulous things done with this set.
You can click on the card to view it or the one below it even larger.  Isn't the baby outfit just adorable?  The card stock is Pretty in Pink and was embossed with the brand new Tulip border embossing folder for the Big Shot exclusive to SU!  The designer paper is awesome Springtime Vintage.  It's got some great papers in the pack.  Notice also that there is a scallop rectangle behind the outfit and that is a clearlit embosslit for the Big Shot for SU! as well.  The other pieces are punches and of course we had to use a SU! button and Janet's favorite accessory - linen thread!  I also love the crochet ribbon embellishment which is also a SU! exclusive.  The other card stock used is Rose Red which coordinates so well with the dsp.  Hello Baby comes from the stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes which you have seen me use time and time again!
This card also uses a stamp from A Slice of Life.  I came up with this card after the baby card.  So yes, it is my original.  I used one of our new in colors - Blushing Bride card stock as the base and the dsp coordinates with it.  You can buy a pack of In Color dsp to match card stock, ribbons, inks, etc.  It is an awesome 12 by 12 pack of paper (#117158with 40 sheets of dsp - 4 of each, double sided in 5 In Colors).  The other dsp I used is from the Elegant Soiree pack and is crumb cake colored with a vanilla pattern to it.  I die cut the ribbon that I stamped happy day on from the new petal cone die exclusive to SU! in the new Occasions Mini and I stamped the words from one of my favorite sets called Fabulous Phrases (#120501).  Then I added a button and linen thread and some die cuts from another new Big Shot die for SU! called Fun Flowers.  You will need to return here tomorrow to see something awesome we made with the flowers!

On both of the cards we highlighted certain parts with NEW Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink.  These really illuminate your art work and are such a nice accent.  Come to one of my classes to see how to use these.  They come like nailpolish and are so easy to use!

HOLIDAY THANKSGIVING CARD FOR FRIENDS

This card uses the stamp set Autumn Splendor.  This is the card I sent to my downline Hsiao-hui Lin and Linda Kincaid. They have been great friends to whom I am really grateful.
I added platinum shimmer paint to the leaves after water coloring them and I also added shimmer paint to the embossed dsp.  The Thanksgiving sentiment is from teeny tiny wishes.

CARD FOR MY MOTHER

I wanted to make my mother a card.  She has a friend who is dying of cancer.  I wanted something cheery.  I used a great stamp set I love called Flower Fancy.  First I stamped with staz on and then I colored in with stampinwrite markers.  I glossed it up with crystal effects.  The dsp is retired now, but a pack of paper I love called Kaleidoscope.  I punched a SU! heart from textured pink pirouette dsp and I stamped with regal rose the sentiment just for you from teeny tiny wishes.  Inside the card I added another card for my mother to send to her friend.

A BIRTHDAY CARD FOR MY FRIEND JAN WAKELAND

I made this card for my friend and upline Janet Wakeland for her birthday.  I was a little absent minded when I addressed the card in that I don't think I put her zip code on the envelope.  Have you ever done that?  I will need to ask Jan if she ever received the card. Hopefully she did get it.  Her birthday was July 22nd and she was at the SU! convention.  Wow!  what a great birthday present!  I made this card using garden green, pretty in pink, white ultra smooth and so saffron card stock  I paper pierced the so saffron. I used the stamp set garden silhouettes for the main stamp and then teeny tiny wishes for the sentiment.  I stamped the sentiment on a curvy label punch that I cut in half for a different type of look on my card.  I also used pretty in pink taffeta ribbon (I love taffeta!) and linen thread to embellish.  Lastly, before adhering the so saffron card stock, I distressed the edge with the paper distresser.  I love that worn look.

RemARKable New Catalog Blog Tour - Post 3 - Welcome to the Aviary

BRAND NEW STAMP SET FROM SU! - THE AVIARY
I was over at my upline - Janet Wakeland's - home today for playtime (an afternoon of fun stamping and crafting with other stampers for less than the price of a movie) and came up with these creations. I fell in love with this stamp set called The Aviary. It is adorable and is high on my wish list. In Jan's pile of scraps - dsp paper that she has left over from other projects - was the above paper from the specialty pack called Sweet and Sour. It is lightly embossed on this side with vanilla and the other colors are rose red and pumpkin pie. It is delicious paper. I layered that on vanilla card stock that I used the new smooch paint along the edges on (click photo to see closer up). The sentiment is stamped in early espresso - a brand new color from SU! and so too is the bird cage from the Aviary. The bird is stamped in rose red. The background card stock is rose red and it is embossed using the Big Shot. The ribbon is vanilla satin. Notice a rhinestone embellishment at the top of the bird cage.
The card above features the opposite side of the Sweet and Sour dsp and is bordered with pumpkin pie. Do you notice that I've used some of SU! brand new rhinestones? I mostly have them on the bird cages and some are near the sentiments. They are a wonderful embellishment and I will need to buy even more. Each sheet has 150 rhinestones on it and I know that is a lot of cards to use them on, but you can bet I will. It is such an inexpensive embellishment to have on hand and makes the card so elegant. The recipient of these cards will really feel special with this addition that cost pennies. Oh, and the ribbon is brand new satin ribbon in pumpkin pie.
This card features soft suede card stock that is embossed with the square lattice die and layered on the Brand New color Marina Mist. The bird cage is stamped to match and the bird is also done in marina mist. I had my stampin write markers on hand today so I had access to every color SU! makes right at my finger tips. You can now get all of the markers for the new colors as well as the the New In Colors. The ribbon is new also...it is the new tiny taffeta and it is done in marina mist. The ladies at my customer appreciation the other day really liked this style of new ribbon.
This card is also done with marina mist but is layered with the new Daffodil Delight card stock. The bird cage and bird is stamped with real red to match the new button embellishment. Note the adorable owl from the Aviary inside the bird cage. Jan said this reminded her of a genie in the bottle and I think I have to agree with her. The dsp is from the subtles dsp collection and is in the color Marina Mist. These dsp paper packs are 12 by 12 and have 20 sheets of paper and are a real bargain from SU! By the way, the sentiment is from a Brand New Stamp set also and it is called Curly Cute.

This final card also features a bird cage, another new button and rhinestone. It is a mini 3 by 3 card. The card stock base is baja breeze and was embossed using the Big Shot and the Brand New Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. I can't wait to create some more with this set and many of the other new things from SU! that the stampers are featuring on this tour. If you are interested in learning more about the items featured, you can click on my website above and check out the store. There are a lot of new things from SU!

Now head on over to the next site on the tour - over to see Michele Reynolds.

Be sure to return here soon for another new post!

JACKPOT

I have a lot of family birthdays in July so I'm getting a jump start on some of them. My brother in law Danny will be the recipient of this card. I used some of the retiring SU! stamp sets and papers. The designer paper for this card is called Jackpot and it's great for more masculine cards and also for game night scrap booking. The happy birthday is from teeny tiny wishes. I used my word window punch and modern label punch for the sentiment.
The inside of the card uses two retiring stamp sets - jackpot and game night. They are truly great for this card. I used the ink colors real red, basic black and so saffron - which is a great combination. Luckily, you will see these in the new idea book that comes out July 1st. There is a color renovation happening but these colors will stay put.
This is my envelope. I will stamp Danny's name on it and then address it and get it out. His birthday is towards the end of July, so I'll mail it in a week or two. These are a couple of stamp sets that I don't think I'll be able to part with once they retire, so they'll go over to my favorites pile.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT - WHILE IT LASTS

I just wanted to share a card today that I made yesterday to send to my mom. I recently opened up a package of Kaleidoscope dsp by SU! I've shared some cards with it, but since it is retiring, I thought I better make a few more things with it. Crushed curry card stock is retiring also and believe it or not it is on sale for only 1/2 price for the pack at the 2009-2010 prices (card stock will go up from $5.50 to $6.95 on July 1st. Anyway....This card was really easy to make. I used the crushed curry for the card base and the label holder. The ribbon is striped grosgrain and there is good news about that. Even though that ribbon is retiring, you can still get it for My Digital Studio. All 6 rolls are for sale in my online store as a package (can be used with any computer program that takes a jpeg!) I just cut a piece of dsp 4 inches by 5 1/4 inches and then cut it 2/3 by 1/3 (approx) and used the back side for the bottom. I added a teeny tiny wishes sentiment to the front of the card.Inside the card and on the envelope I used the stamp set Enjoy Every Moment. I really love this set and it has really fond memories for me. We've used it at a number of classes in the past 2 years or so. I will definitely be keepting this set. The colors used are dusty durango (also retiring) and crushed curry.

Here is another view of the outside and below is a close up of the front. I also die cut some butterflies using my SU! butterfly embosslit. I like how it die cuts and embosses at the same time.

ANOTHER STUDIO SKETCH

Recently I began converting my SU! color ink pad caddy to the new 2010-2011 BRAND NEW COLORS. I also started to separate the card stock. I want to be more than ready July 1st to use all my new things. As a demonstrator, I was able to preorder all of the new in colors, new color collections and some stamps. Great perk for becoming a demonstrator! (see side bar for how you can join now for only $99 - keyword scrappinriri - and join my team!) So last week I pulled studio sketches aside and made the card with the water pitcher and the pears. Today I decided to do the wine bottle and the loaf of bread with cutting knife. What a wonderful set! And...wait til you see the new SU! Idea Book (another perk of becoming a demonstrator!) it is filled with so many new and delightful things to enjoy! I stamped the image using my new IN COLOR markers - with the new color concord crush. Wow! this is just a fabulous color and let me tell you it looks just like grape jam when you color with it. The other marker colors I used were marina mist and river rock. Oh, so a great combination!
The card stock colors are elegant eggplant and river rock. I didn't open up the card stock pack with the concord crush just yet. I used my 2 sizes of SU! oval punches for the sentiment on the inside which comes from the set Three Little Words. The sentiment on the outside - thank you - is from teeny tiny wishes!

CHRISTMAS CARD - HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

WONDERFUL CARD USING STAMP SET I LOVE

In one of the posts below, Carol made me a gorgeous framed piece using this stamp set called home for Christmas. It is truly one of my favorite stamp sets to stamp for the holidays.

Here I used the stamp set to make a card using some patriotic colors. I stamped the image in black staz on and then water colored it. The Merry Christmas sentiment is embossed in white and is from teeny tiny wishes set.

The red polka dot grosgrain is beautiful ribbon.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING - BIG THANKS to YOU!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!

I CASED this card from a recent Stampin Success. This is a publication by SU! that is mailed to demonstrators each month and is packed with great ideas that we can share with all of you. I loved the card so much that I made this card with my stamping group at our last Shoebox card class. It was a true "wow" card and even more "wow" when you actually see it close up and feel all of the texture. Using the Simple Letters for the Big Shot (I LOVE THESE!) I die cut the word THANKS using a different sheet of Autumn Meadows designer paper (still available) and adhered them to chocolate chip card stock strip using a 2 way glue pen. I added a button latte (love these!) and gold cording (also in the holiday mini and available now!). The other card stock papers are more mustard, tempting turquoise, and very vanilla. I tore the card stock up towards the top and ruffled it a little bit for a more dimensional look. The more mustard card stock background was run with an NEW EMBOSSING FOLDER through the Big Shot. This embossing folder will be available through SU! come January 2010. It is the most frequently used embossing folder out there.
The inside of the card has a sentiment "Happy Thanksgiving" from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set. The leaves are from the Autumn Days stamp set in the main idea book and are stamped in complimentary ink colors to the card stock on the front of the card. Using the berry type stamp I made a wreath with similar ink colors on the envelope. I did mine free hand but Katie Ford my down line shared a tip she learned. She said to punch a circle from card stock and use it as a guide for the stamping to get each of the branches to line up in circular fashion. I thought that was a very cool way to get them to stamp like a wreath.
Here is yet another view where you can see the envelope a little closer up! As I've mentioned in previous posts....This Autumn Days set is so versatile. It has every season covered. This is a great all around stamp set that is great to have.

Well Thanksgiving is here. I'm excited about watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and seeing all the floats, the marching bands, the Rockette's and of course my favorite - Santa. I am so grateful for traditions like these. I am also so grateful for each and everyone of you who enrich my life by just being a part of it. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and don't eat too much turkey!

OCTOBER 1st HALLOWEEN CARDS

How about some Halloween for the first day of October? This holiday is the second most decorated holiday next to Christmas - or so I am told. I decorate for Halloween and most everyone on my street does too. I send Halloween cards to my relatives, do you? While these aren't the exact cards I'm sending, they are great samples. I used the stamp sets From the Crypt, Holiday Haunts and Teeny Tiny Wishes. Notice the ribbon above is wide black grosgrain which is new this year (love it!) and I placed elegant eggplant rick rack ribbon from the SU! Orchard pack on top. Love this designer ribbon.
I embossed the skull with white embossing powder on basic black card stock. I used rhinestone brads for the eyes and our new modern label punch. The background on the cards are embossed with texturz plates for the Big Shot.
