Last night we had class at Katie's home. Although we featured the build a bear in the post below this one, and several neat cards, I chose to post this great tech card for you to try. For those of you who don't know, Katie Ford is a SU! demonstrator in my downline who is very talented. I gave her the task of coming up with this month's technique card and she chose cracked glass. I just love this technique. Using the twick or tweet set I used she took it to the next level with this card. First, to bring out the skeleton and ghosts, Katie colored the background on watercolor paper with so saffron watercolor crayon.
This is what it looks like after it is colored. Next (not shown) take your aquapainter and smooth it out so it has a washed background. Then (again not shown) apply versamark ink over entire sheet and then apply glassy glaze embossing powder. Heat and emboss and then repeat this step. When hardened, you crack the sheet with your hands to get the cracked glass effect seen in the top photo.
Next adhere the top window sheet that was stamped with the background stamp sanded.
Next apply to the Halloween dsp and base card stock. Notice the colored m and m's that match the card. Here is Pat P. heating the glassy glaze. Katie is looking on.
Here are some other samples. In this next one, Katie applied the glassy glaze to colored card stock to show that there is another application. Doesn't this look like ice?
Here she has applied it to this flower. The background dsp is the new cottage wall.
In the next post, there is another card done for the holidays. The photo didn't make this post. And after you view that one, head on over to Michele's blog for more remarkable ideas.
