There's a NEW MDS SOFTWARE update from SU! My Digital Studio.  Also...here's a post below directly from MDS regarding using the GLOBAL SEARCH function.  It's a really neat feature of our software.

Download Dish—Finding Hidden Gems from MDS website

I love using the global search option to find those "hidden gems" in my software—images and elements that I have somehow forgotten. That's how I recently re-discovered the hot air balloon from the Bon Voyage Photobook Template. I needed a balloon for a 3-D card that I wanted to try, and this one was perfect!
After I designed the card, I exported my .jpeg files from MDS and imported them into a Word document. I printed the card front and sent it through the printer again for the inside of the card. I also needed some images for the 3-D balloon, so I cropped around the image, copied and pasted it a few times, and printed it. Then, I punched out the balloons with my 2-1/2" Circle Punch.
Here's a screen shot of the document:

And, here's my finished card:

Global search! Love it. And speaking of awesome MDS features, how many of you are enjoying the new customized toolbar? If you haven't heard about it, check out the latest software update here.

SU! BUTTERFLY PROMOTION ENDS TOMORROW 9/30

Our SU! BUTTERFLY PROMOTION ends tomorrow.  You can still take advantage of this promotion by placing an order on my website and using the PROMO code N277AKXF which is a brand new hostess code that kicks off the next set of orders.   You just go to my website here and go to SHOP NOW when you are placing the order you must add this hostess code.  If you forget, just email me within 48 hours and as long as the hostess order has not ended, I can add it.  You will then be eligible to receive a FREE THANK YOU GIFT FROM ME.

Here's a creation that I made for my mom using the butterfly promo stamp set and punch.
The flower stamped on the card is from the SU! Hostess set called  MORNING MEADOW.  It's a great set because it goes along with the other flower stamp set I used on the envelope called FLOWER SHOP.  The punch is the PANSY punch.  The alphabet that I stamped is the OUTLINE ALPHABET that is retired.  Ok...so it's not straight and I didn't use a stampamajig or try to line the letters up. This is ART!  I did spritz the flowers and envelope with homemade shimmer mist using a SU! mister and I also added the sentiment "love you" from the hostess set EXPRESS YOURSELF also by SU!

Here's the inside of the envelope. The mother stamp is a retired SU! single stamp that I just love and since I send mom lots of cards, I had to have that stamp.  I stamped it on whisper white card stock that I also spritzed with the shimmer paint. If you want to see it better, click on the photo to enlarge.

The border design on the inside of the card is from the stamp set MOSAIC MADNESS.

NEW USES FOR YOUR PUNCHES AND STAMPS

Get New Life from your SU! punches especially the new CHEVRON PUNCH!
I love this idea on a new use for the chevron border punch.  This is so cool. Thanks Connie for sharing this with the SU! community.

FROM THE SU! BLOG

I always love it when my stamps and accessories have more than one use, and the Chevron Border Punch is a perfect example! Not only can you use the negative image on your scrapbook pages and cards, but you can also use the positive image, as well.
For this card I punched several strips of Quatrefoil Specialty Designer Series Paper and then used the punched-out pieces to create the background for this card. Now, I will admit . . . I certainly wouldn’t want to cover an entire card front like this, but doing a few rows was actually fun.
Starting at the bottom, I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the pieces to a sheet of copy paper and worked my way across and up. When I had completed enough rows, I trimmed away the excess and attached it to a card base made from Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Feathers are very popular in the stamping world right now, and when I looked at the outline of one of the leaves from the Gently Falling Stamp Set, I thought “Hey, that could easily be turned into a feather.” So I stamped the image tone-on-tone on Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock and trimmed the images down. To enhance the look further, I cut tiny slits down both sides; then, I attached the “feathers” to the card front and covered the base of the feathers with a button.

Finally, I added a sentiment made using the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set. Here is another perfect example of modifying a stamp to get a different look. I didn’t want the portion of the stamp that said “Thank you” so I just trimmed it off after I stamped it to create a fun little tag. (You don’t always have to use a stamp or accessory in the obvious way!)
I challenge you to take another look at your stamping supplies to see if there are any hidden gems like these. Everyone loves to find hidden treasure!

GENTLY FALLING HEAT EMBOSSED AND DRY EMBOSSED SU! CARD

I don't think I've shared this card before.  I embossed the leaves from the GENTLY FALLING stamp set by SU! with gold embossing powder.  They are cut out and arranged on the old olive card stock that was dry embossed with the SU! FANCY FAN folder.  Since it's Autumn, it's time to share leaves falling down.  This is always a fun time of the year.
This card was also spritzed with homemade shimmer mist.  The sentiment is from TEENY TINY WISHES.

MAKE A FOOTBALL FROM A CIRCLE PUNCH AND THE NEW ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD - FROM THE SU! BLOG

Ok, this is so clever.  You can make a football from the circle punch!  How cool is that?  I loved this post from SU! I had to repost it.

For the Love of the Game . . . or Not!

I consider myself a girly girl. I get giddy over shoes and lip gloss. I love to bake, decorate, craft, and curl my nieces’ hair. I make purchasing decisions based on color, smell, and overall cuteness. I also love football!

As a child, I would cuddle with my dad on the couch on Sundays and doze off while he watched football. Football is as autumnal as sweaters, falling leaves, and pumpkins on the porch. I look forward to it every year.

Today I take my football watching a bit more seriously. There are a couple of games every year that I will not miss. One is the Super Bowl. The other is the BYU vs. Utah rivalry game. Around here, this game is called the “Holy War” and it’s a big deal!

When I was asked to work on this blog post, I immediately looked at my schedule and saw that I got to blog about football the day before BYU takes on Utah. Such incredible timing!

To cheer on my team tomorrow, I created a banner. The Gumball Green pieces mimic the look of the field. I used the Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die and the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies. I added a few layers of Midnight Muse Designer Series Paper to represent the school colors. Paper footballs and white tissue tassels create the perfect finishing touches.

To make a football, I first punched a circle from Early Espresso Cardstock using the 2-1/2" Circle Punch. Next, I reinserted the circle back into the punch and punched it a second time. (If you turn it over before you punch, you can reinsert it partially to create a pretty good football shape.)

Using a White Stampin’ Chalk Marker, I added the white markings to my footballs. Then I stitched them all together on the sewing machine to create a garland.

To stay hydrated during the game, I’ve added some school spirit to these water bottles. I simply wrapped them in Designer Series Paper and added a “Y” in the school colors.

And no game would be complete without something to snack on! Using the 4" x 6" Cellophane Bags, I bagged a variety of treats and closed the bags using Gumball Green and Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.

***On the other hand***

I consider myself something of a football widow. I know many of you out there know just what I mean. Football season starts, and our hubbies set up camp in front of the TV. Honestly, I don’t mind. He’s doing what he wants, and that frees up time for me to do more of what I want. What do I want to do? Really? You have to ask? I want to CRAFT! The average football game is 2–3 hours long. With the premium sports channels, watching all of the games together can take an entire afternoon. That gives me lots of time to work on my projects!

The new Envelope Punch Board is one of my favorite new tools. If I don’t have my Undefined Stamp Carving Kit carving tools in my hand, it’s because I’m punching out the cutest envelopes on the planet. Check out the advent calendar I made using the Season of Style Designer Series Paper! As I said, the cutest envelopes on the planet!

The Envelope Punch Board was so easy to use as I sat on the couch next to my football fanatic and made all of my envelopes. I went with the 3" x 4" envelope size because it requires a 6" x 6" piece of paper—which is an awfully convenient size when working with 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper! I also used two sheets of 12" x 12" Crumb Cake Cardstock to break up the pattern and get a little stamping onto the banner.

I want this advent calendar to be reusable, so I used some scraps of Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Cardstock to punch out 1/2" circles (with the 1/2" Circle Punch)  to make my closures.

I used a pencil to mark where the closures should be adhered, then pierced holes for the Silver 1/8" Mini Brads using my Paper-Piercing Tool. I used a small amount of Multipurpose Glue to glue the envelope together, then wrapped 6" of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine between the circle closures to close it.

The steps up to this point took me about an hour and a half. I didn’t really want to spend the rest of the afternoon stamping the numbers for my advent calendar, so I used MDS to create the little numbered flags. (I’ve included the flags PDF here.)

After printing my flags, I joined my hubby back on the couch and went to town cutting out the flags and curling them a bit with my Bone Folder before attaching them to the envelopes with more Multipurpose Adhesive.

The final step was stringing all of the envelopes together with more Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine to make two banners. I chose to string them into two separate banners so they didn’t take up an entire wall!

I’m a fan of advent calendars that come with sweet treats inside. These envelopes don’t allow for much to be stuffed inside, so I’m going to think of fun activities that we can do together all month long and put a notecard inside each envelope.

What fun activities do you do when your significant other is watching football?

CINDY'S NEVER ENDING FUN FOLD CARD - CONVENTION WOW SWAP - HOMEMADE BUTTONS AND EASTERN ELEGANCE

Here are 2 "WOW" swap cards Cindy Geskey gave me at the SU! Convention this summer.  I LOVE these cards.  First, I love the style, second I love the colors and the EASTERN ELEGANCE papers, and third I LOVE the Never Ending Card.  Our Friend Linda Kincaid taught us how to make that card, and it's a FUN FOLD card.  It can unfold and unfold over and over and over again and never ends.  It's a really great card.  It takes a little while (ok, maybe a little longer than a little while) to make this card, but it is so worth it.  Once you cut all your paper out, the mechanics of it go pretty quickly.
Each time you unfold the card, there is a different design and sentiment. These papers are so cool!  I highly recommend that if you like the colors, you purchase this pack from SU!

Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper 130131
Regular Price: $12.17

There's no excuse to forget another birthday when you've got this stamp set--complete with eight different birthday greetings! Clear-mount. Also available in German and French.
This is another card Cindy made in which she used the SU! Paper Clay to make her own buttons.  Ok!  You never have to buy buttons again...with this you can make any color you want to match any project.
Here's a link to a video I found of one of our top SU! demonstrators showing how to make the NEVER ENDING CARD.
