August is here and tonight starts our REMARKABLE PINWORTHY BLOG TOUR. I'm so glad you are joining me and some of my fellow Remarkable stampers in this tour. NEW BEGINNINGS is the name of this tour and that means First Day of School, First Day of Life, First Day of Marriage, and so much more. Here's my first card for back to school. I thought the NEW SU! Photopolymer set with the little boys (DEAR HEART) had the perfect one that looks like my son JP. This is his well wishes card for the first day of school.
I embossed the soft sky cardstock and the swiped it with white craft ink from SU! This is one of my favorite ways to highlight an embossed card. I used my SU! BIG SHOT to do the embossing and if you don't have a BIG SHOT, you are in luck, because this month it's on sale from SU! The BIG SHOT is my most used tool in my craft room. I also die cut the banner that I stamped on using the BANNERS FRAMELITS by SU! and that also was die cut with the BIG SHOT. The little wooden clip is a SU! embellishment and the little boy (and the frame) is from the stamp set DEAR HEART and he is colored in with my NEW SU! BLENDABILITIES. So YES, they work on regular card stock too! The HUGS & KISSES stamp is from another limited edition stamp set that you will be able to earn soon as a hostess and will be a SU! EXCLUSIVE and a must have set called GOOD GREETINGS.
NEW BEGINNINGS is also about weddings and new homes and new friends (which I'm not covering this time) and new family members. I thought since PROJECT LIFE and SU! have teamed up that I would cover NEW BABIES. I'm finally scrapbooking my own baby who is headed to high school in a few short weeks (another new beginning). He's 14 and 1/2 already. I used the SU! New PROJECT LIFE kit (Little Moments and Little Moments Project Life Accessory Pack) and the SU! baby stamp set BABY WE'VE GROWN. I also used the SU! New ROTARY ALPHABET STAMP to stamp the date, time, wt and length. I love how I can personalize the cards.
Project Life and SU! is so easy to do. There are pockets in the vinyl pages that you slip photographs in. If you want to be super creative, you can make pocket cards like I did. On the card in the bottom right pocket I have some wood elements (hot right now!) that I colored with the BLENDABILITIES (I've got to tell you those blendabilities work on so many surfaces!). and on the bottom center photo (FIRST PHOTO) there's a clear plastic star that I added right over JP's head to highlight him in the photo. (You may or may not be able to see that if you click on the photo above to enlarge it).
These are some of the pocket cards I created. SU! and PL have a BIG SHOT framelit that die cuts the perfect sizes for these pockets. There is a 4 by 6 and there is a 3 by 4 inch die, so you can do both of the main sizes for the pockets. There are also some banners in the framelits. I used the NEW BLENDABILITIES to color these. The onesie above looks almost tie dye. I love the look.
Here's another part of a page for my SU! and PL. I used more of the NEW SU! PL cards.
I love the larger card that says "I'm kind of a BIG DEAL."
If you want more NEW BEGINNINGS, there are plenty of great projects in the tour.
