ARLEEN GRAHAM'S SUPER COOL SWAP CARD

All right!  I have never seen this technique before.  Maybe others have, but it is really NEW to me.  Arleen made this card for the Chinese New Year swap (believe it or not, we still have a few more swaps to go!)  Arleen said she needed some torn copy paper and some post it's to hold it in place for her to sponge these complimentary colors over the center of the card stock.  Next she kept the copy paper in place and stamped from the stamp set NATURE WALK in soft suede on top of the sponging.  Then you take the copy paper away and you have a really WOW card.

Arleen's other complimentary color is POOL PARTY - my favorite SU! color currently.  I think this color goes really well with the soft suede.

The sentiment REMEMBER WHEN is from WORD PLAY stamp set and is stamped in soft suede.  Honestly, this is another card I will have a hard time giving away. I will probably need to keep it so that I can CASE the heck out of it.  Thanks Arleen for sharing this cool technique.

OLD AND NEW SU!

We are getting ready to start our NEW IDEA BOOK for SU! come July 1st!  I'm really excited about this!  The new book is just incredibly awesome (email me if you need a copy!).  I wanted to share some old and new SU! with you.

I made this card for my youngest sister Celena who is expecting her first baby any day and as I put on the card, he'll be so worth the wait!  I used some great SU! stamp sets and EMBOSSED with our new Embossing Powders.  We have them currently available in the NEW COLORS Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi.  They are so colorful.
 

The card base is wild wasabi layered with daffodil delight card stock.  I embossed the chair (Have a Seat), the goose (Cherish Friendship), the words (Word Play) and the baby onesie, bib, and teddybear (Baby Bundle).  The newest stamp set is Cherish Friendship.  The others on the front of this card a relatively new and are continuing into the New SU! Idea Book!  The ribbon is Peach Parfait, an in color that was introduced last July and will continue for one more year (stay tuned, because we are introducing 5 more colors July 1 that will be around for 2 years!).  I just love the seat.  You can put anything on this seat and it just calls out to you! 

This is the inside of the card before I wrote a note to Celena inside.  The doctor stamp is adorable but not SU! unfortunately.

Here's my envelope.  This is where old meets new.  The old set is not quite old yet, but is on the Last Chance List and that is Jumble Alphabet.  Thankfully I took a chance on it when it first came out.  I love alphabets!  I embossed here name with the melon mambo embossing powder.  This stamp set, like most alphabet sets, stays in my collection. It's really hard for me to give up alphabets!

The NEW is the delicate doilies I embossed on the envelope in wild wasabi and blushing bride classic inks.  I think they are truly delicate and delightful.  Watch for lots of things to be done with the doilies stamp set coming July 1.

Oh, and Good Luck Celena.  I'm thinking about you and can't wait to meet my new nephew!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Here's my father's day card.  Well, one of them.  I made 9 father's day cards and we are sending them to my father, my brothers who are JP's uncles, Bill's sister's husband - who is also JP's uncle - and a few other select men who mean a lot to us.  So this card is one of the cards I made and it features the stamp set The Open Sea.  I love this set and I love the colors used - night of navy, early espresso, cherry cobbler, river rock and more mustard.  This is a great stamp set that I also used for retirement cards, for good luck cards, birthdays, bon voyages, and so much more.

JP signed all of the cards.  We used stamps from Word Play stamp set inside all of the cards.  He signed not only his name but Moochie and Luigi's names also!

CARD FOR MY SON'S TEACHER

My son needed to make a card for his 5th grade teacher.  Tomorrow - the 8th - is their last day of school!  We used the SU! owl punch and some SU! dsp as well as the stamp set Word Play for this card.  His teacher was a tough cookie - as some would say - but she was very very very good!  He learned a lot this year.  Come September, we have a middle schooler in our family!

On  the envelope we stamped Wonderful Teacher and I used Wonderful Words and contempo alphabet.  These stamp sets are on the Last Chance List!  Get them before June 30th.

UR SEW WONDERFUL CARD and LAST DAY TO GET WORD PLAY STAMP SET

I'm not sure if I shared this card or not.  It uses some great SU! papers and stamps that are in the sewing line from SU!  Janet Wakeland, my upline, designed the card and I CASED it.  I have been meaning to send it to my parents to thank them for the sewing lessons they gave me when I was in grade school.  That was one of the best things I ever learned - how to cut from a pattern and make clothes.  They even bought me my own sewing machine that I kept until just a few years ago.  The main stamp set on this card is the pattern pieces.  Janet had us stamp it in soft suede on vellum, lightly shade the vellum and then back it with cardstock. They look like real pattern pieces.  Also...on the SU! seam binding, did you know you could stamp?  We stamped the tape measure on it.  I love it!

 On the envelope I used the wheel to stamp the stitches.  The main reason I think I wanted to show this card was for the inside of the card and the envelope featuring the stamp Remember When.  It is part of the word play stamp set and on sale for 30% off til May 31st only! I demonstrated this card at class this week to remind me to tell everyone that there are several great stamp sets on sale for 30% off from SU! You can order some great sets. One of the sets is Word Play.  I think this is such a perfect set. The words are great and I like how they are designed.  I put a graphic of the stamp set at the bottom of this post so that you can see what this set includes.  For the first card we made a simple card with some cardstsock, designer paper, embellishments and tool kit (to paper pierce the line of holes into the red cardstock beneath the blue dsp).  This is such an easy card to make.  Everyone in class had their choice of the stamps for their sentiment.  I also did a card using the Thanks a Million sentiment.

This second card also uses a stamp sentiment from word play - Go Confidently in the Direction of Your Dreams.  This couldn't be a more perfect sentiment for the accompanying summer mini catalog stamp set the Open Sea.  I made this card up as I went along.  I couldn't have found two more appropriately matched stamp sets than these.  The dsp is also new from the summer mini catalog and is nautical.

RemARKable Holiday Madness Blog Tour - Post 7

Today I have some Baltimore Regionals Swap Cards to share.  The first is made by my downline Linda Kincaid.  Linda is super talented and I'm so happy to have her a part of my team.  Linda used the new holiday builder wheels and the word play stamp set to make this card.  I love her use of textured card stock and the punched circles and crystal effects.  Linda's card was in the running for one of the best cards at Regionals.

Next, I have a card by one of my great friends in Remarkables, the talented Kathy Winland.  I love her card candy.  Kathy used the Tags til Christmas in a very clever fashion. These tags can now be adhered to packages, gifts, cards, crafts, etc.

Here is one of my swap cards.  I actually had 3 different ones. This one was my favorite Christmas one and uses the Greeting Card Kids and the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder. I also used Vanilla Smooch spray and I love the shimmery effect.  Just Beautiful!

MAKE AND TAKES

These are the make and takes from our REMARKABLE TEAM MEETING last week.  I love them all!
There were actually 5 make and takes but I only have 4 shown here.

This one might actually be my favorite one of all.  It uses the new spiderweb embossing folder for SU!  I've seen another folder with a web on it - in fact I may also own it - but this one really has more depth to it.  I would love to use this card as my Halloween card.  I love these Greeting Card Kids stamps.  They remind me of the campbell soup kids and are so cute.  We used peach parfait twill ribbon, new brads, new punch (happy halloween is punched on a new punch coming out with the web on Sept. 1st, and new dsp, yeah!

This is another one of our make and takes and it features the spider web embossing folder, the bat punch (so cool and available now), wide striped grosgrain ribbon, and a new stamp set coming out Sept. 1st called Dark and Dreary.  Oh, I can't wait to own this stamp set.

This is a really neat invitation.  We put two pieces of dsp together from the summer mini catalog to make this pinwheel.  It is super easy.  We used tropical dsp which is retiring August 31st, so if you want a pack of this paper order it before then.  The stamp set is called Inviting.  I love the font used and although we didn't use it on this invite, the stamp set has a really cool pin tack that you can stamp and can be used for scrapbooking, card making and a variety of different crafts.  The umbrella paper is part of the tropical dsp.

This is a really great card that Jan presented for us.  It uses an exclusive Shelli Gardner favorite (Shelli is the cofounder and CEO of SU!) stamp called French Filigree.  It is really a neat background stamp.  The Remember when is from the set Word Play.  We added some new crochet ribbon lace (so cool, you have to see this up close and personal) and a new sticky back pearl - which is a fabulous accent for the card.  The dsp is brand new and is called Elegant Soiree.

JUST UNDER 6 MONTHS UNTIL CHRISTMAS

 

Can you believe that we are just under 6 months until Christmas time?  I'm starting to think about my holiday cards.  I want to have most of them done by the time Thanksgiving rolls around.  Since I have a few upcoming Holiday card classes I'm planning, I thought I would try out some designs.  This one is very similar to the one in the post below (click here) except that I took off the daffodil delight taffeta ribbon and added wide real red grosgrain.  I used a BRAND NEW STAMP SET called Word Play for the sentiment.  Very easy card to make many of.

BRAND NEW SU! DOTTED SCALLOP RIBBON PUNCH IS DELIGHTFUL!

This is our BRAND NEW SU! dotted scallop Ribbon Punch!  It is really cool!  Did you know that you can make ribbon with this punch?  And you can make some cool embellishments also.  Check out the card my downline and good friend Linda Kincaid demonstrated at class at Carol's home last Friday below. Punches are really a quick and easy way to add interest, dimension, and color to your cards, tags, and scrapbook pages. You can glue punched shapes directly onto your projects or layer a sheet of card stock that has been punched over a coordinating card stock for a reverse effect.  Our SU! punches are great because they...

Pictured here is the great card that Linda designed. She used the NEW stamp set Aviary for this card.  Her colors of choice are daffodil delight (BRAND NEW), concord crush (brand new) and ultrasmooth white.  The punched paper ribbon is really cool!  And I really LOVE all of our new Taffeta Ribbon colors.  This one is daffodil delight.

The inside sentiment is from a brand new set called word play.  It has some really wonderfully designed sentiments!
