DELIVERING PEACE AND JOY - BANNER STYLE!

Saw this on the SU! BLOG and since I love banners, I just had to post!  What a great idea!

Delivering Peace, Joy, and Noel . . . One Banner at a Time

Our church group of 8–11 year-old girls wanted to do a service project for a local care center. Since singing is not one of my strengths but crafting is—I thought it would be fun to have the girls do a craft activity and make Christmas banners for each of the 70 residents.

To begin, I cut Designer Series Paper (US/CA) into banner shapes, then used the Big Shot and Glimmer Paper to cut letters for the words. We used punches (US/CA) to cut stars, snowflakes, and poinsettia-like flowers to accent each banner. Each girl selected a set of letters and her choice of banner and accent pieces to complete each banner. (This was a great way to use up some of the retired products I had lying around.)
Our group of 15 girls was so sweet and amazing as they carefully and beautifully built each banner. It took us two sessions to complete enough banners for all of the residents.

We had the opportunity to hang the banners for each resident. It was sweet to see the eyes of the residents light up as the girls asked if they could hang the banners for them.

It was a wonderful activity and brought the spirit of the season to the residents as well as the girls.
