CARD FOR COWORKER

I made this card for a coworker and wanted to share it. I used certainly celery as the card base and then I stamped my images on whisper white ultra smooth card stock. I stamped the flourish and flowers from the SU! stamp set Baroque Motifs. I used certainly celery for the flourish and regal rose for the flowers. There is a strip of pink dsp along the top that I added next. The sentiment is from the level 1 hostess set God's Beauty. That is stamped in basic black. Before attaching the stamped card stock, I ran it through the Big Shot with an embossing folder. Love the results. If you want to do a raised or textured card stock, remember to stamp your images first and then run through the Big Shot otherwise, the images won't stamp efficiently. Oh, almost forgot, the bird is die cut from the sizzlet birds and blooms, a SU! exclusive.
The coworker I made this for is Olachi. She is one of our new pediatricians. She stayed up with me all night weds. into Thursday taking care of the NICU and I wanted to thank her and know that she is appreciated.

MOJO MONDAY - MARIA SUBMISSION

This is the sketch layout for the card design for this week. I got pretty busy last week and couldn't catch up enough to do 84, but I'm on 85 and I love the results.
Here is my submission for Mojo Monday 85 Contest. I loved the design layout and had a great experience making my card. First I knew I wanted to use SU! designer paper. What is great about that is that one shade comes in different designs. One of my favorite color combinations is Certainly Celery and Baja Breeze, so that is what I chose. First I used a certainly celery card base. Next came the layers, all different patterns of certainly celery dsp by SU! Next I highlighted the patterned paper with baja breeze card stock. Behind one of the layers, I chose to copy the design exactly by cutting a strip of baja breeze and then using the scallop edge punch by SU! I edged the layer. Next I stamped a great new stamp set from SU! called Wonderful Watercolors in baja breeze classic ink. I used my aquapainter to watercolor the flowers in baja breeze and the leaves and stems in certainly celery. I stamped the thinking of you phrase from the same stamp set in basic black. Lastly, I used crystal effects to highlight the flowers and then applied dazzling diamonds glitter on top. The ribbon is striped baja breeze grosgrain which is one of the in colors that will be retiring on June 30th. Don't forget to stock up now!

WINDOW CARD BY HSIAO-HUI LIN

Hsiao-hui is certainly one of the most talented crafters and stampers I have ever known. I get the pleasure of seeing her on occasion at work and she brings over the most wonderful creations. This is the window card. Isn't it clever?

( I wish I had my Sony camera to photograph it, but it didn't come out too badly with my iphone. We were just in the lounge when she brought it in and we don't have the best lighting).

She used the stamp set Cheap Talk and stamped it in color on white ultras mooth card stock. She cut it up into 4 squares to make the window. The designer paper is raspberry tart. For the curtain top and the ledge she punched the edge with the SU! designer punch - eyelet scallop edge, which was introduced in the recent SU! idea book. I love this card a lot and am going to try to recreate it with other stamped images and designer paper. The leaves were die cut using the SU! embosslet leaves and she has the added touch of pink grosgrain ribbon. Love it! Thanks again Hsiao-hui for creating!

Don't Forget Mother's Day this Weekend

Mother's Day is this coming Sunday May 10th. I had great plans to send all the mother's I know a mother's day card. I will do my best to get them out tonight or tomorrow but with today's mail they are bound to be late. I finished this card this am and mailed it to my mother. I was visiting her last month and brought her gifts (lavender from Crabtree and Evelyn) but I did not give her a card. My mother loves to receive home made cards so I wanted to get this off. I used an ultras mooth white card base. Next I layered a regal rose designer series paper. I could not help but use the Manhattan flower embossing folder for this card. I ran a 4.25 inch by 5.5 inch piece of ultra smooth white card stock (the best!!!) through the Big Shot with that exclusive SU! folder. Next I trimmed just the top portion close to the roses. The ribbon is soft pink taffeta and the ovals are from SU! including the scalloped oval punch. I also cut a white flower from the three flower punch and put one of our SU! pink rhinestone brads through it. The Just for you sentiment is from oval all in the new mini occasions and the happy mothers day is from all holidays in the main idea book. I CASED this card somewhat from another card I made at DIVA DAY at Janet Wakeland's for Remarkable Stampers. That card was done in shades of gray. Wow! This card in gray would be fabulous for my Going Gray Gracefully Class on the 28th. I'll have to consider that.

In any case, if you have mother's to send cards to, get them off soon!

CARD MY SON AND I MADE

Friday night my son went to his best friend house. They did a camp out sleepover. Of course, I knew exactly which stamp set worked the best for this event. That is right! It is Under the Stars. This bear is so cute! I love how he is holding the mosquito or "skeeter" spray to get rid of those skeeters!

My son JP is working in my craft studio on his card.

CLASS PHOTOS

We had a lot of fun Thursday night at my house. Here is the group stamping in my craft studio. Now you can't really see the studio in this picture so you will have to wait for me to post those. You can see my dining room pretty well. We had a really nice group - there were 10 of us.
After class, we passed around some of the scrapbooks we have worked on. It is always nice to see others creativity. It is really inspiring.

Lori Butler is in blue and Diana in pink.

Linda Murphy looks great. She had a really nice time.

Rita is working on her project.
