CHANGE IS GOOD - FROM THE SU! BLOG
Here's a cool post with great samples from the SU! BLOG! And later today, more convention samples from my photo collection.
CHANGE IS GOOD
CHANGE IS GOOD
Much
like in fashion and home décor, trends in paper crafting are changing
all of the time. We often see trends from one area cross over into the
other.
I am excited to see change! As creative artists, we tend to craft in our own unique style, but at the same time, we can also be inspired by current trends. By using new and fresh products, we are constantly growing as artists. I love paper crafting and I love following the current trends. Change is good and new products are good!
The first project I have to share with you features the new Coaster Board. I love this stuff! It’s about half the thickness of chipboard and it comes in a pretty vanilla colour. It is recommended to use with the Big Shot dies(US/CAN). I chose the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die for my project. I used the cut-out portion of the Coaster Board, then ran it through the Beautifully Baroque Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to add some texture.
I added even more texture by painting my Coaster Board with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. This is a go-to product for me! I opened up the bottle and used a small brush to apply the Smooch Spritz. It dries so quickly! I also used it to create some splatter.
My next project features the Coaster Board once again and some other hot trends in paper crafting right now. The pairing of black with pops of color and the addition of silver sewing thread bundled loosely underneath another element is everywhere right now. I love these trends and I couldn’t wait to incorporate them into my creations!
Stampin’ Up! has such fabulous accessories! How you use them is entirely up to you. Whatever your style, you can create with detail using these little gems. I am in love with the new Designer Buttons. I tend to use them in clusters with the Candy Dots, which is another favorite of mine!
Last, I have a cute gift card holder to share. I wanted to create a pocket using the White Vellum Cardstock. I love the way vellum looks! To create the pocket, I folded over the vellum and sewed around the edges with my sewing machine. It measures 3" x 4-1/4". Then I created a cut-out using my 2-1/2" Circle Punch. Next, I created a layered belly band. The Modern Medley Designer Series Paper has such beautiful and trendy patterns in black and vanilla. I pleated the Designer Series Paper and flagged the end. Then I wrapped Linen Thread around it and secured it with a bow.
I created the embellishment base with the Deco Labels Collection Framelits and then stamped it with the Dictionary Stamp in Bermuda Bay ink. I added some 3/4" Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon and a flower made using the Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds. I painted my flower with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and added a button in the center. The greeting is from the Six-Sided Sampler Stamp Set.
Find what inspires you and just simply create!

LOTS MORE CONVENTION DISPLAYS and MDS MONDAY - SU! CONVENTION DEMONSTRATIONS/MAIN STAGE PRESENTATIONS
Here's more of my SU! CONVENTION DIGITAL ALBUM. Today I'm featuring a layout showcasing projects that Sara Douglas (Shelli's daughter) demonstrated. She took 2 of the NEW kits from the Holiday Idea Book coming out this week and crafted with them. The first project showcases what would otherwise be a Thanksgiving place setting kit, and she made it into a scrapbook of her family I love her use of the new CHALK PEN to write the children's names on the black. The second features a banner kit.
Sara is really a neat lady. She will one day take over as CEO of the company, no doubt. She is also very talented. We really loved all of her projects.
And for more inspiration...here are more convention display boards. Click on individual photos for greater detail.
More to come over the next week. I have lots of idea and inspiration to share.
