Great Memorial Day at the Pool

We made it to the pool today. I was surprised at how great the water temperature was. We put on lots of sunscreen, too. Jp got these great large noodles from the Easter bunny and they are perfect for lounging in the water. Jp is having such a great time! Nice to have a holiday and a long weekend.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY

I wish everyone a very happy and safe Memorial Day as we remember loved ones and those who have died protecting the USA! We are off to the pool today. I hope to post a photo of JP in the water a little later.
Enjoy your day!

BRANCH OUT! I LOVE THIS SET

This is a great set in the current SU! Idea Book entitled Branch Out. I love this. You can make this tree fit any season or theme. I thought I should do the current season of Spring. My card base is kiwi kiss. I stamped the tree in chocolate chip, the grass in old olive and the bird in pacific point. The birdhouse is done in basic black. The adorable boots are also in regal rose. The tire swing is one of our copper large eyelets. Isn't that cool I attached it with my cropadile. The scene was stamped on whisper white ultrasmooth and then mounted to chocolate chip and bordered in pacific point. Watch for some other cards I am doing with this same stamp set. I hope it continues into the new idea book due out July 1st. Let me know if I can reserve one for you.

He played his entire 23-year career with the Baltimore Orioles.
Robinson was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983.

SCENE IN A GARDEN

I really love this new stamp set from the SU! Occasions Mini called Scene In A Garden. It is just adorable. Whether you are a gardener or just love plants or birds, or these adorable boots, you will love this stamp set. I used a so saffron card stock base. Next I took some of the wonderful paper from the TEA PARTY PAPERS (oh I love that paper and hope they do another version of it in the next idea book) and punched the corners with the SU! ticket punch. I then took some of our ultrasmooth white card stock and stamped the bench, the pots, the bird and the boots. I colored them all in with my BRAND NEW stampinwrite MARKERS. (I just got a second case - my gift to myself for my birthday) and then applied crystal effects over everything I colored. I backed this scene with some more so saffron card stock and added the praying for you which is from versatile verses which is also in the occasions mini catalog. The so saffron grosgrain ribbon was a SU! exclusive from Sale-a-bration that I got FREE!

2 CARDS BY HSIAO-HUI LIN

Hsiao-hui came up to the NICU today with some great cards she just made. I captured them as best as I could on my cell phone. This first one is made using the watercolor reinker wash technique with Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. I love it! She also used some raspberry tart designer paper, and also textured the celery cardstock and the top note with our embossing plates. The leaves are sizzlet die cuts and the punch is a curvy label punch.
This is another great card using the SU! carousel notes. I think I might take these out
for an upcoming workshop. She used the same sizzlet leaves, curvy label punch, butterfly from true friend and flowers are also sizzix. Great job Hsiao-hui!
Happy Birthday Cabrina.

CARD MADE BY CATHY WEIR

Cathy Weir was a guest demonstrator at our CELEBRATE SPECIAL OCCASIONS class last Thursday. I challenged Cathy to make a wedding card using the TEA PARTY designer series paper. How do you think she did? Cathy made this card to fit our 5.25 by 5.25 ultra smooth white envelopes. I love to change things up from time to time and do different sizes of the cards. I was thrilled when I saw this card partly for that reason and partly because it is so well done. Cathy used a certainly celery card stock for the base and then on top of that added so saffron to back the designer paper. She used the SU! five flower punch to punch out the larger flowers and the three flower punch for the smaller flowers. She also used the new scallop eyelet border punch to make the so saffron border. Really great job Cathy!

Wondering what the designer Tea Party papers look like? There is a lot of variety in this pack. Below is a description of the colors in the papers and the coordinating colors.

TARA'S WATERFALL CARD

Tara Bouldin was a guest demonstrator at the Celebrate Special Occasions Class with myself, Katie Ford and Cathy Weir. Tara wanted to do the waterfall card and made this beautiful creation that I added to. It's really neat because you pull the striped pacific point ribbon at the bottom and then each piece moves in succession like a waterfall. Tara's original card was made in kraft card stock. I added a pacific point blue background as an actual card you can open up. I want to send this to my aunt and want to write something inside. The background stamp is dotted stamped in pacific point classic ink and then dotted with crystal effects. I love that laquered look.

As you pull each flap down the sentiment from versatile verses (in the occasions mini catalog) it says "May your day be the wish come true kind." Love it. I stamped the sentiments in chocolate chip.

The windmill is an adorable stamp from the scene in a garden set also in the Occasions mini catalog. I colored them in blue and of course - added crystal effects on top so they glisten.

Do you see how each flap comes down so nicely? So that the very last sentiment is Happy Birthday! By the way...the ribbon is nicely threaded and tied through one of our SU! large eyelets that I set with my cropadile.

On the inside I have the same happy birthday sentiment stamped in pacific point blue classic ink. It is from a great birthday set called On your Birthday. There are some great sentiments in that set and a must have!

I'm going to write a nice little note to my aunt inside the card and get it sent off tomorrow just in time for her birthday. She is going to love it.
Tomorrow I will post Cathy Weir's wedding card!
