Moments Like These
I’m lucky to live by my
extended family, which means lots of family dinners and get-togethers.
At every one of these gatherings you’re bound to hear the phrase
“Remember that time . . .” or “We were in so much trouble when we . . .
”—a phrase which is probably used more than it should be! The kitchen
table becomes a stage where past stories are brought to life.
We talk about the summers spent riding bikes, collecting grasshoppers, and swimming in grandpa’s pool; about playing tee-ball, climbing trees, and all the broken bones; and about learning how to herd sheep, work hard, and always be there for one another.
These are the moments that shape our lives. These are the moments we remember. Yes, albums of the vacations, graduations, and weddings are all important; but so are the moments in between. I don’t have as many photos of these moments as I’d like, but I can always start today, right?!
