RemARKable New Catalog Blog Tour - Post 1 - ARTISTIC ETCHINGS

NEW STAMP SET -ARTISTIC ETCHINGS
NEW DESIGNER PAPER - NEWSPRINT
NEW EMBELLISHMENTS - RHINESTONES
Today is the first day of the Remarkable Blog Tour. I wanted to share with all of you the make and take we made at my CUSTOMER APPRECIATION DINNER last night. I have been in love with this stamp set and the dsp since I first saw it last month. I knew I had to have the ladies make something neat with it. I found this adorable bookmark project on Dawn Griffith's site and new immediately that this is what we should make. The project is really simple and I found that once I mastered the project I could make a lot of these quickly. I have made several now so I have them for all of my books and my catalogs and idea books. This project features the new dsp newsprint, the new stamp set artistic etchings, the relatively new cool alphabet set called rustic alphabet in the summer mini catalog, the new Large scallop punch and very cool NEW embellishments the sticky back rhinestones. The ladies really liked this project since some of them had seen my downline Katie demo it but they had never actually made one of these.
Here is the bookmark holding my catalog to the page with artistic etchings stamp set featured on it. I stamped the key and cut it out and attached it with cording to the bookmark. The mini tag is a vintage tag stamped with the initial of choice - obviously and m for maria! -these are in both the summer mini catalog and the new Idea book and they are shimmery. Oooh, la la!!!
I love how this bookmark holds my page really well and is really sturdy.
On the back of the bookmark I had to stamp the other stamps in the set. Don't you just love how realistic the Eiffel Tower looks? The edges are sponged for the distressed look with basic black ink.
This is the coordinating card. I featured the brand new rhinestones on the bookmark (look carefully above at the crown - it's jeweled!) and on the card. It may not be that easy to tell but these rhinestones are of great quality. They are really shiny and bright. If you bought the rhinestones in the Easter Egg kit awhile back - these are so much brighter and shinier.

Here is a package featuring the new rhinestones (you get a lot - like 15o) and the new 2 3/8 inches scallop circle punch in the new design.
The inside of the card features the stamps from artistic etchings and the sentiment is from a really cool stamp set in the mini catalog called Favorite Thoughts. The sentiment goes really well with artistic etchings.
Here is a close up of the Newsprint DSP. Each bookmark is made with paper that is cut 6" by 6" So you can make four bookmarks from one sheet of dsp.
Stamp the lacy circle stamp using real red classic ink. I bought this set in clear mount rubber so I am using a clear block to stamp it. My personal preference right now is clear mount - easy storage, less expensive - better able to position the stamps for more accurate stamping - all at least in my humble opinion. What I do recommend wood for are tiny stamps. The new rustic alphabet that we used for the ladies initials would have been better in wood mount. I did get them in clear, but small stamps are easily lost. I suppose you could lose the wood mount also, but wood mounted are a lot easier to see. You will have to try both wood mount and clear mount and make a decision on which stamp type you prefer. One thing is for sure...with the money I save on the clear mount (usually about $5 or so per stamp set) I get to buy more SU! product.
Use your 1 and 3/4 inch circle punch to punch the stamped image out.

Then go ahead and use your new Scallop circle punch to punch a real red scallop circle to back the punched lacy circle.

This is such a fun stamp set and I can see a lot of great uses for it. It is one that will fast become a great favorite that I hope to keep always.

A Big Thank You to my customers - especially those who came to CUSTOMER APPRECIATION - you are the inspiration for me to create and share what I love with all!
